Sinews and Flesh

Ezekiel 37:1 tells us of the prophet: "The hand of the LORD was upon me, and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me down in the midst of the valley which was full of bones" (KJV).

You may know the story of the valley of dry bones, how that they came alive again and were raised up to become a mighty army. But. . .

Before the breath came into them, "there was a noise, and behold a shaking, and the bones came together, bone to his bone. . . . The flesh came up upon them, and the skin covered them above" (Ezekiel 37:7-8 KJV). However, they were still dead.

Perhaps our prodigals are in varying parts of this process. Perhaps their bones are coming together. Perhaps they already have sinews, or maybe their flesh is appearing again.

It is true that God can radically save a prodigal, but some seem to go through a preparation process before they give their life back to God.

This is exciting! I believe our prodigals are being prepared for salvation. God is answering our prayers on their behalf. We prayerfully await the day when the breath of God is breathed back into them and they are alive in Christ, part of "an exceeding great army" (v. 10 KJV).
